Certification will help keep job sites safe

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

Waltham, MA - May 28, 2020 – In an effort to ensure that needed housing construction proceed as safely as possible during the coronavirus pandemic, the Homebuilders and Remodelers Association of Massachusetts (HBRAMA) has developed an on-line Covid-19 Exposure Prevention, Preparedness and Response Plan training course for home builders and remodelers throughout the state. This comprehensive course was designed using a combination of standards from the MA Sector Specific Workplace Safety Standards, The Center for Disease Control, the

Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a residential safety coalition lead by the National Association of Home Builders, as well as criteria developed by HBRAMA. It includes customizable site-specific safety documentation, required work-site signage, daily safety checklists, employee notifications and more.

Additionally, the State Board of Building Regulations and Standards has approved the course to qualify for a one-hour continuing education safety course for Construction Supervisor License holders.

HBRAMA President Matt Anderson stated, “The Home Builders Association and its members are committed to maintaining a safe environment on work sites throughout the state for employees, subcontractors and homeowners whether in new construction or remodeling. The production of the training course and it’s completion by designated site safety officers will help insure that worksites are following the appropriate safety protocols which in turn should provide a high level of assurance not only to on-site workers but building officials and local health inspectors that appropriate precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are being understood and followed.”

The HBRAMA was pleased to provide direct input to the Baker-Polito Administration’s Reopening Advisory Board that resulted in the development of industry specific guidelines.

The Covid-19 training and certification course is available through the HBRAMA website. HBRAMA.com
