BRAGB Builds Trade Workforce on Career Experience Day


On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston with Careers in Construction MA hosted its annual Career Experience Day (CED) at The Tirrell Room in Quincy, MA, welcoming approximately 90 students from local high schools and trades programs to meet with 15 local companies. Participating companies spoke with students about career paths, opportunities, company culture, and how to be successful in the trades.

Participating schools included: Boston Public Schools/Madison Park Vocational Technical, Framingham HS, Foxborough HS, Home Builders Institute/Ben Franklin Technical School, Marlboro HS, Medford HS, Milford HS, Quincy HS, and Weymouth HS

Participating companies included: Alpine Environmental, C & R Flooring, Colonial Marble Company, Inc., FBN Construction Company, LLC, Feinmann Inc.- A Design/Build Company, Home Builders Institute, International Furnishings & Design Association - New England (IFDANE), Kevin Cradock Builders, Inc., Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops, MillerWorks Industries LLC, National Kitchen & Bath Association of New England (NKBA NE), Oak Development & Design LLC, Oasis Shower Doors & Specialty Glass, The Norfolk Companies AKA Norfolk Kitchen and Bath, and TSP Smart Spaces.


Throughout the event, students also had the opportunity to tour a Tiny House provided by Oak Development & Design as well as participate in the recording of Heart of Oak TV's podcast, during which career professionals were interviewed about their experience.


CED Partner CompanyWide also offered services to students from these schools prior to Career Experience Day, walking them through how to create an online profile and search for and apply to internship, apprenticeship, and employee opportunities. Companies were also encouraged to post any open positions on CompanyWide for students to view after the event.

About Careers in Construction MA (CiCMA)

Careers in Construction is a workforce development program designed to help Massachusetts based traditional high schools launch trades programs. The program either facilitates or directly supports finding the funds, acquiring the tools, sourcing the materials, and attaining the curriculum for high school administrators and students who are interested in a trades career.
