Lead Safe Renovation Rules in Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards (DLS) promotes and protects workers' safety/health, wages, and working conditions, and supports the use of apprenticeship as a tool for workforce development.

The state portal will provide you with the most current information for renovation, repair and painting (RRP) work involving lead paint remediation in compliance with the de-leading requirements found in regulation, 454 CMR 22.00, issued on July 9, 2010.
It is important for all contractors working in Massachusetts to be fully aware of the lead laws. All contractors, property management firms, or municipal entities that perform work on pre-1978 properties must register with the state of Massachusetts and use lead-safe practices if they disturb six square feet of interior paint or twenty square feet of exterior paint.

BRAGB does not offer RRP classes at this time. We advise all contractors who work on pre-1978 housing to take RRP classes from qualified providers. A list can be found via the link below.
